Legendary Sindhi Short Story Writer Hameed Sindhi Passes Away At 81 Years Age


Legendary Sindhi short story Writer, Scholar, Teacher, Administrator and founder of Bazm-e-Rooh Rehan Abdul Hameed Sindhi passed away due to cardio arrest at the age of 81 years in Hyderabad early in the morning today.

He would be laid to rest in the evening in Naushahro Feroze at his ancestors’ graveyard.

Hameed Sindhi was born 0n 12th October in 1939 in Naushahro Feroze district. He did M.A Economics from Sindh University Jamshoro.

He  worked as Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University Tandojam and Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur.

He has also served as the Chairman of Sindh Text Book Board Jamshoro, Chairman of the Sindhi Language Authority Hyderabad, Principal of Public School Hyderabad.

He did several jobs in different sectors and also attended many conferences in USA, UK, India and Iran.  Hameed Sindhi was author of 11 books and has compiled 10 books in his life.

He has received several awards including Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 1990 and Aizaz-e Fazeelat in 1993 from Government of Pakistan, Writer's Guild award 1981, Shah Latif and others in his life.

Sindhi writers and intellectuals including renowned short story writer Shoukat Shoro, Taj Joyo, Mohammad Ali Pathan, Zahida Abro, Mohsin Joyo and others condoled his tragic death and termed it as great loss of Sindhi literature.
