In 70s Rafique Soomro also took to their line by writing short stories. From early 1970s his name started to appear in literary journals as a short story writer, while in 1977, his first collection of short stories named "Insan Ji Goolah" was published, though his book got fair reviews from the critics as well as readers, but his second book "Mitti Sandu Mamroo" was published after 17 years, but this time his writings were highly criticized. He was  accused of copying the diction of Amar Jaleel. While Rafique's three contemporary story writer's including Wajid Naz, Keehar Shoukat and Razaque Mahar accused him of  plag

Murder Of Dr. Nimarta And Our Society

If we compare the pre-Islamic and post Islamic socio-cultural and political status of women, a gradual increase in their position is noticeable. Islam is the religion of peace and harmony.  Islam as a religion has provided ample status, security and opportunities not only the Muslim woman but also non-Muslim for establishing themselves as an important part of the society. Pakistan was established by Islamic ideology but after the separation, political leaders and establishment of Pakistan didn’t play an important role for the development of nation.  Nowadays, economically whole nation is an indebted of IMF. Pakistan has a strong constitution of 1973. By that law, every citizen without any type of religious discrimination has all rights of basic education, health and security but state of Pakistan failed to provide all basic rights to citizens.  Implementation of law is a major problem of this society. There is a violation of women rights in Pakistan. Woman is not secure in

Nimrita Couldn't Commit Suicide, We Demand Justice: Family

Image
The brother of Nimrita Chandani, Dr Vishaal, demanded justice for the alleged murder of her sister, who was a BDS final year student at Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC). While talking to media on Thursday, Nirmrita’s brother asserted that her sister was not a person who could commit suicide. “She was a very lively and socially active person,” Dr. Vishaal recalled. On Tuesday’s late-night, Nimrita was mysteriously found dead in his hostel room at Chandka Medical College in Larkana. The university’s vice-chancellor, Aneela Atta-ur-Rahman, claimed that the student had some marks on her neck which confirmed that Nimrita might have committed suicide. The brother of the deceased female medical student has expressed suspicion of the ‘murder’ of her sister at the Chandka Medical College, rejecting the claims of her suicide. Recollecting memories of Nimrita, her brother said she has been a position holder during her entire academic career. In addition to being a brilliant student,

Dadi Leelan: The First Woman Music Teacher of Sindh

Sindh is a fortunate land that it has got many dedicated and sincere intellectuals, scholars and educationists who have served this great land of River Indus with all their passion and with only one aim to serve their motherland.  One such great educationist was Dadi Leelan, who was born on 20 December 1916 at Hyderabad, her native home was at Chotki Ghatti where her father Hoot Chand shifted in 1922, later the family shifted to Heerabad area which was known for its cold breeze.  Dadi Leelan witnessed the horrifying scenes of partition in 1947 and she was 31 years old when the partition took place. She was very hurt when her brother Sadhu Vaswani migrated to India after partition, not only him but her six brothers and a sister migrated to India, but her father refused to leave his motherland, due to which the remaining family faced many difficulties, till her father died in 1953 at Heerabad, Hyderabad. Karachi Committee And Imposition of Article 149 (4) Rejected By People Of Pakistan: Dawn's Social Media Poll

Image
People of Pakistan have rejected federal government's decision to form Karachi Committee and impose Article 149 (4) and to take administrative authority from Sindh government, this was rejected in a social media poll created by country's largest newspaper "Daily Dawn".  "Daily Dawn" created a poll on social media i.e Facebook and Twitter, last day in which majority of voters rejected the idea of Karachi Committee and to impose Article 149 (4) so that Karachi, the capital of Sindh, should be handed over to federal government as a separate administrative unit. "Would it be right decision of federal government to impose Article 149 and use administrative authority. Giving two options: (a) Yes, and (b) No." On Facebook 55k users participated in that survey poll, out of which merely 34% users voted in favor, while a majority of 66% rejected it. Jagy Hain Khuwab Main Might Resurrect The Dead Urdu Prose Fiction

Image
As a student of literature I believe that the Urdu prose fiction being produced in Pakistan is total waste of time; as it only revolves around one particular issue "a middle class girl of marriageable age finding prince of her dreams, marrying him and living happily ever after".  Whether it is short story or novel, both have serious issues with plot and flaws in technique. The best example of that is the so-called novels of Umeerah Ahmed and Nimra Ahmed teaching us so-called moral values and trying to strengthen our faith. The golden days of Udru prose fiction in which Manto, Chugtai, Chander and Pritam created master pieces have faded away and Urdu fiction has utterly lost its taste. Recently I have read some Urdu novels including "Sasa", "Char Darvesh Aur Aik Kuchwa", "Mirwah Ki Ratain" and "Jagy Hain Khuwab Main". I found "Jagy Hain Khuwab Main"  by Akhtar Raza Saleemi an interesting novel, with a new approach of

Image
Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that if the tyranny upon people continues in same way, then most likely Sindhu Desh and Siraeki Desh would be created like Bangladesh was created. PPP would  strive for Pakistan till last drop of blood. He was talking to journalists at Hyderabad on Thursday, he said that PPP won't allow such conspiracy against Sindh to succeed, and it would keep on fighting for rights of Sindh. "Due to the incompetence of center, the province of Sindh is becoming bankrupt, while selected prime minister (PM) states in Sindh that it has become bankrupt due to 18th amendment. If federal government would be dissolved, if it tries to takeover Karachi through unconstitutional means, Sindh government would stand firm against puppet and non-democratic forces, how is it possible to control Karachi from Islamabad by unconstitutional means," Mr. Bilawal added. He was responding to an unconstitutional move by PM Im

The Sindhi Hindus were forced to leave their motherland and migrate to India, those migrated was middle class of Sindh, including intellectuals, writers, doctors, scholars, the trading and business community and educationists. Even at the night of partition, Sindh was free from communal violence, and the then Sindh government had not asked Hindu Sindhi to migrate from their motherland, Mr. Ayub Khuro, who held the office of Chief Minister of Sindh at that time was against human displacement of Sindhis as well as any other group of people. While important political and scholarly figures like Mr. G M Syed, Mr.
