Poet Taj Joyo Refuses To Accept Pride Of Performance Award
Renowned Sindhi poet and scholar Taj Joyo has refused to accept the Pride of Performance 2020, due to enforced disappearances of Sindhi and Baloch youth, and looting of resources of Sindh.
In this regards Mr. Joyo released a statement and talked to WiseSindh claiming that he was thankful to his friends and Culture Department of Sindh, who suggested his name for the award but he couldn't accept.
He said that in situation where Sindhi youth are forcefully abducted by law enforcing agencies, when the federation was involved in looting resources of Sindh, when it was conspiring to overtake Karachi, the capital of Sindh, he felt it be betrayal to receive an award from Govt. of Pakistan.
Taj's elder son Sarang Joyo, a teacher and activist was abducted from his house at Ahktar Colony Karachi, he was actively participating in protest for recovery of missing persons.
In this regards Mr. Taj said that they went to court for petition on Thursday, however, the court rejected their petition.
He mentioned that on 17 August 2020, they would once again approach the court.
Taj Joyo is renowned poet, writer, and scholar of Sindhi language. He served as Secretary of Sindhi Language Authority, Secretary General of Sindhi Adabi Sangat and retired as professor of Sindhi.
