Secularism, Reasoning, Rationalism And Modern Nationalism Four Pillars of Joyo's Ideology: Jami Chandio

The ideology of Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo was based on four principles including secularism, rationalism, reasoning and modern nationalism, claimed renowned critic and intellectual Jami Chandio in a homage paid to great Sindhi sholar, intellectual, educationist and political thinker Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo in a seminar at Dr. Abdul Jabbar Junejo Hall of Sindhi Department, University of Sindh, Jamshoro on Friday on the occasion of his second death anniversary.

"In a period when there was religious extremism and intolerance everywhere, it was Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo only in Sindh, who openly said that he believed in rationalism and free thinking. If we talk about his ideology, it was purely based on four principles including secularism, rationalism, reasoning and modern nationalism and he dreamed about Sindh that was based on these four principles. Mr. Ibrahim Joyo was highly inspired by renaissance movement in Europe that brought age of reasoning and enlightenment. He believed in equality and sovereignty of motherland. When fascism and Nazism were considered nationalism, Mr. Joyo wrote against such practices," Mr. Jami Chandio said.

Renowned poet and writer Taj Joyo spoke about the translated work of Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo and claimed that though entire work of Mr. Ibrahim Joyo was important but nine of his translations were outstanding those included translation of French Revolution, Alim Tadress Mazlooman Lai, Philsaphy Jo Abtatai Course, Baran Jo Massiah, and Taleem Ain Tadress.

The grandson of Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo, writer and activist Mohsin Joyo sharing his thoughts said: "Mr. Joyo never for once in his life thought about himself or his vested interests, he had just one mission in his entire life and that was welfare and well-being of his nation. Mr. Joyo took initiatives for establishment of Department of Fine Arts, Central Library at University of Sindh, Jamshoro and Sindhi Adabi Board, and for that he faced endless hardships at the hands of those who didn't want to see a progressive Sindh."

Poet and writer Ali Akash said that Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo was "The Teacher of Sindh, while he would be remembered as a legend of Sindh.

Chairman of Sindhi Department Dr. Ishaq Samejo said that Mr. Ibrahim Joyo was a man who loved his motherland with bottom of his heart.

"Rather organizing his death anniversary in traditional way, we have organized this seminar so that youth of Sindh be familiarized with personality, work and ideology of Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo." Dr. Samejo added.

On that occasion a resolution was passed unanimously that the Act passed by Sindh Assembly regarding Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo Translation Bureau should be implemented immediately, while the road from City Gate to Journalists' Colony, Hyderabad be named Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo Road, and a lesson on Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo should be included in text books.

While Naseer Mirza, Zulfiqar Halepoto, Rehana Nazir, Dr. Anwar Figar Hakro, Dr. Tahmeena Mufti and others also read papers on Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo.
