If Demands Not Fulfilled Would Go For Sit-in Protest And Boycott Academic Activities From 26 August: SUTA

Sindh University Teacher's Association (SUTA) held a meeting to review current issues prevailing at University of Sindh, Jamshoro, that meeting took palace in the office of Dr. Nek Muhmmad Shaikh; President SUTA and was  presided  by Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh.

SUTA condemned the non-professional attitude of In-charge Director Fiancee (DF) and circumcised heavily on the poor performance of University's Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat and his team due to which University was in worst financial crises.

SUTA claimed that Sindh University's distant campuses faculty members showed deep concerns on pathetic situation of distant campuses and informed house how direct appointment of teaching assistants were made by VC Dr. Burfat without any test or interview.

Vice President, distant campuses; Amajad Hussian Lashari shared the news regarding increasing political involvement in campuses and informed house about undue benefits given to such people by administration.

He informed house that a directly appointed new female teaching assistant in Dadu campus was also provided a vehicle for pick and drop from her house which was unprecedented. While those students who threatened teachers were invited to visit campus as dignitaries, which added an insult to faculty. He feared it might create law and order situation in Dadu campus.

SUTA discussed in detail present situation of university and reviewed progress on issues raised in COD of SUTA. SUTA unanimously condemned the illegal TA appointments at various campuses.
Likewise, main campuses representatives also shared the news of appointment of teaching assistants made directly by VC without test or interview.

SUTA condemned that violation of rules and double standards of VC Dr. Burfat, as some talented youngsters were asked to pass test and appear in interview despite of it most were rejected while others were appointed on same posts without any interview.

SUTA demanded intimidate termination of all such contracts of employment made on basis of favoritism and also demands that VC should not violate uniform policy of appointment of teaching assistant as adopted by SU, though VC was working under courts interim orders, despite it; he was violating rules of University, which was not only shocking but regrettable too.

SUTA , appealed Honorable Sindh High Court (SHC) to take notices of such illegalities and violations of rules committed by VC  Dr. Burfat with impunity due to court orders and restrict him of any further trespassing of University's code. SUTA reviewed progress on Charter of Demand (CoD) and demanded administration to call immediate meeting of syndicate to resolve long pending issue of teachers.

SUTA, discussed in detail on pending remuneration bills of faculty members in in-charge DF and both controller's offices. Representatives of faculty informed SUTA body that since December 2018 , bills were not being disbursed to large majority of faculty members, neither difference of M.phil allowance from date of enhancement of Ph.D allowance was given as promised by VC Dr. Burfat. Similarly ,telephone bills of last three months were still pending , almost millions of rupees remuneration bills were pending, without any solid reason.

Therefore , SUTA decided to convey once again all these reservation, i-e selective disbursement of bills to some nears and dears , favoritism and violation in remuneration bills and non-professional attitude of in-charge DF, to VC. If no action would be taken and such bills submitted up to 31 July 2019 wouldn't be disbursed up to 24  August 2019, then SUTA would  start a protest movement in every campus from 26th August, till achievement of goals. Sit in would be held in every campus and main campus faculty would give sit in front of AC 2, and would hoist back flags on main building , banners would be mounted on main spots in and outside campuses.

Along with it , SUTA discussed on long delay in advertisement, selection board of 22 grade meritorious professors , ad-hocsim on administration post, allotment of plots to new faculty, appointment of PhD lecturer as ad-hoc AP، illegal allotment of houses , encroachment and many other items in details.
Hence, concluded to convey once again all long pending issues of faculty to admin for actions and resolution first on priority basis. However, if same attitude prevail and same incompetent team would be allowed to mishandle funds and violate University rules then as per plan an organised campaign would be launched form 26 August to onward.

SUTA resolved to continue its struggle for resolving key issues of faculty at any cost. On that occasion  all SUTA representatives congratulated Dr. Nek Muhammad for being elected as president of FAPUASA Sindh Chapter.
