Cafe Khanabadosh Must Pay 43 Lac Rupees For Electricity Bills: Culture Department

Hyderabad's Cafe Khanabosh faced further problems as its power was cut-off by the authorities, while the owners of the cafe have been threatened to pay the bills or face consequences. While Arfana Mallah has claimed that four years ago they had an agreement with Sindh Culture Department in which it is clearly stated that the utility bills would be paid by the Sindh Culture Department. The officials have claimed that the owners of the cafe have to pay 43 lac rupees for utility bills.

In this regards Dr. Arfana Mallah and other stakeholders of Khanabadosh Cafe started a campaign on social media and compared the cafe with Late Sabeen Mehmood's The 2nd Floor (T2F). On her official face-book account Dr. Mallah posted:

"What else we expect from the department headed by poet a Minster. Khanabadoah writers cafe revived cultural life of Sindh, and Hyderabad . All book and cultural festivals around every city, owe their genesis in Khanabadoah, which gives identity to Hyderabad around globe from new York to Germany
. But couldn't beat immortal hate of persons around minster of culture who is darling of our Sindhi writers . Who otherwise claimed to be only gem in the crown of corrupt PPP government.
But very same minster targeted very vibrant cultural, writers cafe just because it is run and managed by us , the sinful women of Sindh. During his tenure as minister ,he never supported any event of khanabadoah.

Congratulation , Khanabadoah is an idea , and it will find space some where . Karachites give millions property for T2F , and they proudly own it. Even after Saben Mahmood murder ,it is alive and kicking , I think Sindh will also own it's khanabadoah, and sooner or latter it will find any space . We don't want to indulge in any hateful debate, all we demands " khanabadoah " needs genuine shelter ..."

It is being alleged by some sections of press that this tug of war between Culture Department and Khanabadosh management started immediately after Mr. Akbar Leghari, who was Secretary Culture Department went on long medical leave, he was considered to be the bridge between the minister and cafe's management. While there are also rumors that some close friends of the minister don't like cafe's management and they are creating problems for the cafe owners.
